| Park design by artist Brad Goldberg and City landscape architect Don Ganje, ASLA.
The square block of Mears Park is in Saint Paul’s historic Lowertown, home to the Farmer’s Market and over 500 artist studios. The Park’s diagonal axes create two distinct areas, one area evoking a Northwoods natural setting with birch grove and a winding stream, the other providing the urban amenity of a circular public gathering place and performance pavillion. A Marble Institute Pinnacle Award winning stone carver, Goldberg created seating walls of red sandstone and limestone along park walkways.
Recognized by the American Society of Landscape Architects with a Centennial medallion as a national landmark for outstanding landscape architecture. |
