Gita Ghei

Gita Ghei is a metal sculptor specializing in public art and teaching. She learned her trade in a bronze art foundry, and has worked as a patina artist and public art maintenance technician since 1990. With her art, Gita celebrates natural material sources, including metal, as dynamic and earth sustaining. Her materials pallet includes water, trees and solar energy – passive sunlight, electricity, plants and sugar. In projects with art learners, Gita’s focus is strength in diversity, and sustainability.  She has worked in public school settings in MN for 20 years with residencies and grants, teaching art alongside topics such as history, water, green energy and public art making with young people. Gita also creates herbal remedies and engages deeply in land stewardship. She maintains a studio in Minneapolis. Visit Gita on the web at www.stareyeart.com
