About eARTh Lab
eARTh Lab is a youth arts education program of eight weekly workshops, located in Western Sculpture Park, that invites participation free of charge especially from families in the park’s vicinity. Curated projects center workshops meant to develop skills, promote personal growth, and to encourage a new generation of active citizens. Workshops engage teaching artists, education interns, and wonderful volunteers in learning that is open to youth 6 to 12 years old. Free snacks are provided by eARTh Lab, a program generously supported in its entirety by the Ecolab Foundation. Moreover, eARTh Lab locates near the park’s rain garden, whose maintenance is made possible by funding from Capital Region Watershed District.
Location
Work for this position is remote, except for two meetings, and on session Tuesdays, when the location becomes the program site in Western Sculpture Park, Saint Paul.
Compensation
A stipend of $3000 paid in three instalments of $1000, paid by the middle of July, August, and September 2026.
Term
Nine consecutive Tuesdays, June 16-August 11, noon-4:30, as well as two meetings prior and two thereafter.
Job Description
The eARTh Lab Manager of Public Art St. Paul’s eARTh Lab is responsible for driving its creative vision, strategy, and implementation, while fostering community engagement by creating a welcoming environment that encourages participation.
Creative Vision and Strategy:
*Support the reimagining of a seasonal program that is timely, cohesive, engaging, and relevant to the community in the vicinity of Western Sculpture Park.
*Support the selection of artists based on their experience and proposed projects, ensuring a diverse, high-quality set of engagements to cover the eight-week program.
*Meet with selected teaching artists to review their workshop plans, to ensure they cohere with other eARTh Lab workshops.
Program Management:
*Attend two preparatory meetings, one with PASP staff and eARTh Lab interns (likely in person at Osborn Building, the other with the former along with the teaching artists, likely remotely.
*Run the program’s eight sessions and produce documentation during and a report at its end.
*Supervise eARTh Lab interns to achieve program objectives.
*Support executive director’s strategic linking of eARTh Lab to PASP organization mission and vision.
*Arrange to procure materials, equipment, and additional services needed to carry out workshops and other activities, in consultation with teaching artists and in coordination with PASP staff.
*Lead communications with teaching artists and intern in a timely manner to ensure alignment of plans.
*Create a contingency plan for a single rain/excessive heat day or other unforeseen need for event cancellation, including to prepare an evergreen workshop art project.
*Curate easy projects for the DIY art table with earth friendly materials and, when possible, in complement to the corresponding workshop on a given Tuesday.
*Support appointing and maintaining the snack table at every session.
Marketing and outreach:
*Support promotion of eARTh Lab, leveraging existing platforms and networks.
Program Evaluation:
*Lead in developing a multifaceted evaluation tool of the program, that accounts for input from staff, teaching artists, student participants and their caretakers/parents.
*Lead collection of data and analysing results to identify areas for improvement.
*Issue a program evaluation report upon eARTh Lab’s conclusion, in consultation with the executive director.
